“I didn’t do it for clout” — Chef Tolani speaks on converting to Islam years ago.
Popular chef, Tolan, i has addressed reactions after revealing that she converted from Christianity to Islam years ago.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Morayo Brown, Chef T explained that her decision was personal and had nothing to do with public attention.
“I didn’t do it for clout. It was a personal decision I took years ago,” she said, clarifying that the process started about 10 years ago, while she has been actively practising for around nine years.
According to her, she chose to keep that part of her life private for a long time. She noted that although she often shared content during Ramadan and spoke about Islam, many people still made assumptions about her faith.
“I practice in private because I don’t like social media shenanigans,” she added.
She explained that her journey into Islam was something she took on independently. “It wasn’t about marriage or pressure. I picked up the Quran myself, studied, and understood the religion before making that decision.”
The chef said she eventually decided to speak publicly about it after reaching a point in her life where she felt confident in her faith and growth.
